Each color found in the visible light spectrum has its own measurable wavelength and vibrational frequency and can be used to facilitate balance and healing. Colors work through the chakras and feed the nervous system. They create a feeling, mood, mental state and are associated with temperature. Colors are so powerful that they are also used as symbols.

Traditional color healing or chromotherapy involves radiating light of a specific color that is lacking. One common method is to use theatrical light gels either over a light or around a glass of water with the sunlight infusing its healing properties into the water to then be taken internally. Color balancing can also be used in diet, Feng Shui, crystal energy and clothing selection.

Animals and Color

I know the jury is out as to whether animals can see color or just variations of light, but on some level they definitely feel the vibration and have knowledge of color. Pets not only respond well to colors they actually request colors that match their healing or behavioral needs. They will suggest a preference in color for their bowls, blankets or collars and will tell me how they think it will be useful to comfort them.

Horses are indeed color fanciers and may ask for tack in their favorite hue. I experimented with one of my own horse. When it was time for a new halter, I asked what color he wanted and I heard Purple. I thought blue would be nice since he has blue eyes and everything else in my life is purple. I then pendulum tested both halters and asked which one he would prefer and the answer was Purple. Just for fun I purchased both colors and took them to the barn for him to choose. Twice he pointed to the purple one and when I tried to put the blue on just for kicks he pinned his ears to show me his disapproval. I have since learned to let my horses choose the color of their pads, blankets and wraps.
