“Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.” ~Yehuda Berg
Words are carriers of energy. They have a vibration unique to themselves and resonate to specific numerical values. You could think of words as vibratory frequencies. Just like the way a string on a guitar reverberates after being plucked, so does the power of the spoken word.
Dr. Doreen Virtue and son Grant illustrate this in the book Angel Words, Visual Evidence of How Words Can Be Angels in Your Life. While recording a podcast, they discovered whenever Doreen would speak a high vibrational word such as “angels” or “peace” with resonant positive connotations, the needle gauge on the recording device responded with a large and vibrant pattern. Consequently, the more negative or derogatory words and statements produced a smaller and more compressed rhythmic pattern.
Dr. Masaru Emoto’s research with the frozen water crystals influenced by words taped to their containers illustrates how the water responds to the energy of words. Positive words yielded beautiful and illuminating crystal patterns and negative words were depicted with darker or more distorted and imbalanced images when viewed under a microscope.
Our bodies are at least 70 percent water and the water responds like the crystals to the words we hear externally as well as our own thoughts that we tell ourselves. It is important to choose your words wisely. As Steven Campbell notes in Making Your Mind Magnificent, “What you can do today is based on what you think today. When you say it, your brain makes it so.”
That is why affirmations are so powerful. Play with conscious use of words and phrases today and notice the difference in how you feel and interact with the world.
